Horseback riding is both a hobby, a sport and an art. It all depends on the practice, the discipline and the level exercised. It is an activity where the Man and the equine (pony or horse) are partners and evolve together. Originally the horse had mainly a utilitarian role, hunting, war, in the fields... Today the disciplines practiced in horse riding are numerous such as dressage and show jumping without ignoring the ride.

The main difference between a pony and a horse is their size. Classification of ponies: category A: less than 1.07 m category B: between 1.08 and 1.30 m category C: between 1.31 and 1.40 m category D: between 1.41 and 1.48 m Beyond the category D ponies, we can speak of a "big pony" or "a small horse".

At the Equine Club of Versailles, we have several categories to best suit the child. From 3 years old we offer half-hour sessions to work motor skills with and on a shetland (small pony under one meter). Then from 4-5 years old, the sessions are one hour, including two 15-minute sessions dedicated to the preparation of the pony.

During the first sessions, simple pants that are both flexible and resistant are suitable (jeans) and a pair of rain boots. To protect your head, a helmet or a bomb (compulsory) will be lent to you by the club if necessary.

The classic riding disciplines are dressage, show jumping, and cross country. But there are many others such as ethology, TREC (Competitive Equestrian Hiking Techniques). and then there is also horse ball, archery on horseback etc...

Ideally to ensure a place and a time that suits you in a recovery corresponding to your level (beginner / Gallops x), it is recommended that you register from May, and no later than the 1st week of September. Contact us directly and come join us at the reception.
